Boundary Line school elects Miss Estelle Gray as teacher
Miss Estelle Gray of Austin was elected teacher of the Boundary Line school, succeeding Mrs. Henry McElroy who resigned and moved to Humble. Also Miss Selma Kempe resigned as assistant at Komensky. Miss Mary Elsik elected in her place. Bird charts have been received for multiple area schools and a set cost 8.80 express prepaid to teach birds' value. Red Cross notes urge full Junior Red Cross enrollment and timely dues. War savings literature and a $4.12 savings certificate per teacher encouraged, redeemable as $5 on January 1, 1928.

Red Cross to Form Lavaca County Branch
A meeting Thursday night approved becoming a Lavaca County Chapter branch rather than an auxiliary. The Christmas drive reported 967 members with $483.50 of dues kept by Shiner. A sign board for Work Room sign was ordered and a Junior Red Cross committee led by Prof Ponton was formed. Supplies of sweater wool arrived from Hallettsville for knitters.

The Majestic Theatre Company completes a 180 by 90 foot building at Camp Travis with a 3000 seating capacity and 30 foot stage. It will show weekly changes of acts and follows the circuit’s usual program. Opening expected in early January to entertain soldiers before boarding trains.

Death of 17 Year Old Miss Minnie Dreyer in Shiner
News of the death of Minnie Willie Mae Dreyer, 17, daughter of Ed Dreyer of Dreyer, reached Shiner last Saturday. She had been ill for some time and died as funeral services were held Saturday evening with burial in City Cemetery. She leaves her parents and siblings. The Gazette extends sympathy.
