Winners of Annual Decorating Contest

Winners of the annual yard, window and door decorating contest sponsored by Msgr Netardus Council No 3081 Knights of Columbus announced first prize to Mr and Mrs Victor Winkenwerder second to Mr and Mrs Walter Glatzert and third to Mr and Mrs Victor Patek. Two honorable mentions were Dr and Mrs John Dennis Wagner and Mrs Tillie Fietsam. Knights of Columbus thank all participants.

Mrs. Gus Schmidt Dies In Oklahoma in 1960 Rites

Mrs. Clara Schmidt nee Hummel of Oklahoma City died December 20 1960 after a long illness. Last rites were held December 22 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and Shiner Catholic Church with burial in Gonzales City Cemetery. Survived by sister Isabel Maddox and brother Hugo Hummel.

Five year old Sherry Lynn Schroeder dies in Hallettsville traffic accident

A five year old, Sherry Lynn Schroeder, was struck by a car on Highway 77 near the Henry Schroeder Sr. home in Hallettsville. She died at Renger Memorial Hospital. The fatality brings Lavaca County’s 1960 traffic deaths to seven. Funeral services were held December 28 at First Baptist Church.

Last Rites Held For Willie Becka

Funeral services for Willie Jerome Becka of Shiner age 67 were held at the Shiner Catholic Church with Requiem High Mass. Burial followed in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Becka served in the Army in 1918 19 and is survived by his wife Mary Jaeger Becka of Shiner and one sister Emilie Simper of Shiner. The service included full American Legion and military honors.

Tenberg Rites Held in Shiner for William A Tenberg

Funeral services for William Adolph Tenberg were held December 30 1960 at the Buffington Chapel Shiner with burial in City Cemetery. He died December 28 at his home aged 71 years 8 months 9 days. Survived by wife Meta Helweg Tenberg two brothers Alfred Yoakum Ben Bay City three sisters Emma Sommerlatte Otto Draeger Corpus Christi and Willie Draeger Shiner. He was a retired farmer and member of the Methodist Church and Hermann Sons Lodge.
