Christmas Eve Services Draw Record Crowds at Churches

Crowded entrances at Catholic and Methodist churches as parishioners filled midnight services. Dr. Martin Luther King Day? The Old, Old Story and shadow pictures drew large audiences. Carolers rendered popular Christmas pieces. ministers aimed to visit the sick though demand exceeded time. Next year singers to be split into two groups.

Fireman's Ball at Bluecher Park Draws Crowd on New Year Eve

The Annual Fireman's Ball at Bluecher Park on New Year's Eve was the most largely attended in recent years. Gross receipts reached 351.55 dollars with about 500 dance tickets sold. Net receipts will be around 250 dollars. Everyone enjoyed the event and a spirit of cheer and goodwill prevailed.

Favorable Change in Condition of Dickson Green Jr

The holidays brought anxiety to the Green family in Lubbock as Dickson Green Jr fell ill on December 19 and was treated for spinal meningitis after a rapid decline. While his parents rushed from Dallas, there was cautious optimism as a New Year update suggested slight improvement, though a funeral for Mrs. Green's father had occurred. The community in Shiner remains hopeful for a full recovery for the well liked boy.

Wilson Visitor Contracts Spinal Meningitis

Walter Mueller, staying with his sister near Wilson, returned home for Christmas with his parents Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Mueller. He fell ill recently and was taken to the local hospital. By Monday his condition worsened to spinal meningitis, and his family and community await his recovery as a fine New Year rain falls.
