Ranch raid in Mexico targets US cattle owner
Mr K H Merrem, a US citizen and brother of K J Merrem of our city, runs a ranch in Mexico. A letter from his son reports about 50 bandits raiding the hacienda, taking horses mules saddles and cash, attempting to capture the caretaker for ransom, but the man escaped. Merrem has ranching experience and formerly served as deputy US marshal, river guard and custom service.

Disastrous Fire Destroys Mrs Mueckes East End Home
The home of Mrs Laura Muecke in East End, Shiner, was totally burned last Friday afternoon. Firefighters from the volunteer department saved the furnishings, but the fire, blamed on faulty wiring, caused an estimated loss of 5000 with 3500 insured. Mrs Muecke, at hospital, plans rebuilding at the same site.

The Christmas celebration at the Methodist Church on December 25 drew a crowded congregation with a short program and Santa Claus in good humor. Miss Lena Richter hosted an Opera House dance with Darilek's Orchestra providing music. Christmas Eve private trees and scenes followed by December 26 at Bluecher Park for another dance with Mire men’s band. December 27 at Site Park featured Patek's band and a lively reception.
