Class Parties Honor Juniors With Fancy Socials

Miss Schmidt hosted a Friday Junior Class party at the City Hotel with prizes and a thrift motto. Sophomores returned the courtesy with a social at Miss Ella Plagemanns featuring blue and gold decorations and a Bunco picnic with prizes and refreshments.

Books Added to Shiner High Library Readings

A long list of titles is noted as recently added to Shiner High School library shelves including works by Stedman, Kipling, Thackeray, Dickens, Twain, Verne, Tolstoy, Ibsen and many others. The school also shares events from Friday patriotic exercises, a Monday holiday announcement, talks by Mr. Baldwin, spelling drills for Interscholastic League, and two class parties with the Sophomores hosting the Juniors on February 21 and the Juniors hosting the Sophomores on February 20. The Literary Society plans a program on February 27 featuring a reading, a debate on enlarging the U.S. Navy, and other activities.

Sad news of William Kempe dies at 92 in Alice

The veteran resident William Kempe aged 92 died after long illness. He was father of P. A. Kempe and Herman Kempe. Funeral services were held near Flatent after his remains passed through Sunner with family members from Alice and nearby towns. The Kempe family and community express sympathy.

Twentieth Century Club Meets at Mrs Striebeck Home

The Twentieth Century Club gathered February 19 at Mrs H H Striebeck home with thirteen members and two guests. The Piano lesson was led by Mrs Joe Hughs and Mrs 8S A Thulemeyer, ending with a con test enjoyed by all. The group adjourned to meet March 4 at Christa Moecke’s at 3 45 PM.

Bridal Shower Honors Miss Richter In Mrs Hepler’s Afternoon

Mrs H H Hepler hosted a bridal shower for Miss Cathrine Richter last Wednesday afternoon from four to six. The event featured a local telegram messenger delivering gifts of silver linen cut glass and china while guests enjoyed fruit punch and cake. Mr and Mrs William Gean planned a brief San Antonio visit prior to the shower.
