Mrs. Jacob Patek Laid To Rest In Shiner

Mrs. Jacob Patek nee Agnes Siegel of Shiner died February 20 1972 in Shiner Hospital at 78. Requiem Mass held at Shiner Catholic Church with Msgr. Hanacek. burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survived by daughter Frances Fojtik and son-in-law Lonnie, sister Elizabeth Valis, three grandsons Alfonse Jerry and Steve, four great grandchildren.

Three Sentenced In District Court

Andrew Ray Haywood received a five year probated penitentiary sentence in District Court at Hallettsville on Monday February 14 for forgery. Henry Gibbons was fined 500 dollars plus costs for contempt of court. Roger Dominguez faced aggravated assault charges and was fined 296.50 including 27 hours in county jail on Wednesday February 16.

Dolezal and Schreiber Catch Calves in San Antonio Scramble

Dale Dolezal and Ernie Schreiber of the Shiner Future Farmers of America chapter caught calves in the San Antonio rodeo. Ernie finished second with a calf and earned a $45 certificate, Dale finished third with a $40 certificate. Clarence Harabis also competed but did not catch a calf. Thomas Brosh, Eugene Rivera and Ray Seale joined the trip.

Rotarians to View Turned Out to Grass Film Program

Rotarians in Shiner will hear a film recording of Turned Out to Grass by Leon F. Montague at the Wednesday noon meeting, March 1, at Casa Fiesta Restaurant. Montague, Rotary International alumnus and former rancher, traces developing personal interests before retirement, with Scotts sponsoring the film and MGM staff producing the recording.

Pecan Producers Meeting Set in Hallettsville

A pecan meeting is scheduled in the Lavaca County Office Building Hallettsville on Thursday February 24 at 7 30 p m Pecan specialist Blueford Hancock from A M University will discuss all phases of pecan production and Dr Charles Cole will discuss insect control on pecans The meeting aims to address problems in pecan production and invite all interested growers to attend.

Shiner VFW Post 6209 and Ladies Auxiliary host a social on Saturday evening February 26 1972 at the Post home. The Auxiliary provides eats and drinks. activities start at 7 30 p m. Two Positions to Be Filled in Shiner School Trustee Election

The Shiner Independent School District will hold a Saturday election on April 1 1972 to fill two school board seats. Incumbent Henry J Fietsam seeks re election while Gus D Nollkamper declines re election. Absentee voting starts March 12 and ends March 28 with Mrs Lanelle Kasper as clerk.

Shiner Clippers Outline Plans for 1972 Season

Seventeen prospective players attended the Shiner Clippers organizational meeting on February 19. Officials discussed the 1972 season including the annual Clippers Invitational Tournament and a potential two weekend double elimination format. First practice is set for March 4 at 9 00 a.m with additional sessions March 5 March 11 9 00 a.m and 1 00 p.m and March 12 at 1 00 p.m. Anyone may attend.

Services Held For Mrs. J Molnoskey

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Joe A Molnoskey nee Frances Chilek of Shiner. She died February 16 1972 at Shiner Hospital at age 69 years 10 months and 25 days. Requiem Mass was February 19 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church. Interment at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. She was born March 21 1902 in Gonzales County Texas. She married Joe A Molnoskey October 6 1926 and they farmed in Shiner and Gonzales areas. Survived by five sons two sisters one brother and 14 grandchildren. Her husband died April 26 1964 and one son Albert Molnoskey died February 15 1951.
