Matting sé and Li met with Sweet Howe Commissioner Koerth in the city for a few hours on Sunday. The visit drew local attention to municipal matters and potential collaborations.
In Austin on February 13, Jack Carter reports the sale of John W. Kokernot’s 61000 acre ranch in Lubbock County to a Chicago syndicate led by Nash and Gates. The $610000 purchase will split the land into farms for colonization. Kokernot has two years to remove his cattle. The ranch reaches to Lubbock town limits.

By authority of Texas law and Shiner ordinances an election is ordered in Shiner Lavaca County on Tuesday April 7 1908. Offices include Mayor five aldermen City Marshal and presiding officer Chris Wagener appointed by Mayor Louis Traupwein.
In Halletaville Texas on February 12 residents petition the Commissioners' Court asking that elections be ordered in the school districts to reduce the school tax rate due to the fall rendities law which will bring higher taxes than needed.
The court orders elections for school districts and authorizes Sheriff Noble to purchase two trained bloodhounds for the sheriff's office. He will seek and obtain two well trained hounds immediately. Bead of 8S L Bennett, appointed Tax Collector to fill the unexpired term of F J Pesek, deceased, has been approved by the Commissioners' Court and has assumed charge of the office as Collector.
A bill in the United States Senate, said to be endorsed by the president and postmaster general, would create a domestic rural parcel post for merchandise on rural routes. It proposes two cent postage for the first pound and two cents for each additional pound, covering food stuffs dry goods drugs books and other merchandise. Heavy opposition claims uncertainty about passage.
Justice Court sat two days this week with attorneys W. T. Bagby C. L. Stavinova and Sam Schwartz in attendance.
