Shiner Parent-Teacher Meeting Plans Candy Sale

The Shiner Public School hosts a regular P T A meeting with plans for a March 2 candy sale during the Lone Star Pageant and a March 21 Tennis Tournament in Shiner. Members vote to pay school bills, arrange entertainment for district basketball players, and welcome two new members Mrs Ella Lane and Mrs E Pohler.

Sewing Circle Meets as New Members Join

Mrs Wm Wendtland Sr hosted the Sewing Circle on Wednesday afternoon February 11 with assistance from Mrs S A Thulemeyer and Mrs C Sand ford. Two new members, Mrs J C Blohm and Mrs B J Hoc iak, were welcomed and membership closed. After lunch, members enjoyed piano selections. Present were Mesdames A Brosch, O H Deutsch, Ed Herder, A Kasper, C M Koerner, A G Lichey, F P Luck, Augusts Messer, Aug Schramm, C B Stratman, M E ener and A de Marckenhelt.

42 Party Hosts Social Games Week's Calendar Item

Mrs Louis Fink hosted a 42 Party on Wednesday afternoon February 11 featuring five tables of players in an entertaining series. Mrs C B Welhausen received a buffet set for high score and Mrs Otto Dreyer won a scarf for low. Narcissus flowers set a spring tone as two course refreshments were served to a group of guests including Mesdames Henkhb aus Longoria Blohm Schramm Valenta Muecke Tomasco Holchak Wagner Welhausen Ponton Hollmann Waldrep Wolters and Nora Huebner.

Rathbone Temple No 78 Social Evening at Pythian Hall

A Rathbone Temple No 78 social at the Pythian Hall featured about a dozen tables of 42 and Hearts with many enthusiastic players. Attendees praised the entertainment committee Mesdames A. A. Schramm H. H. Hepler and Alvina Wolters as cake sandwiches and coffee were served. T. J. Ponton won high score while Mrs. Arno Wagner received consolation. Organizers hope for another such event soon.

Valentine Party At Mrs Welhausen Hosts Three Tables

Mrs C B Welhausen entertained three tables of heart players last Friday afternoon. Guest of honor was Mrs W L Mc Bride of Port Arthur. Red valentine banners, score pads, and jars of candy decorated tables while Jello moulds cake and coffee were served. Small pill boxes with a note hid miniature chairs as a spring teaser. Attendees included Mes dames Rogge Pinton Wendtland Striebeck Brieger Welhausens and Mr Sandford of Floresville and Yoakum residents.

Declaming Honors in Methodist Contest At Church

Last Thursday evening at the Methodist Church Miss McMas ters led declaiming tryouts for league honors. Senior girls named were Alice Kasper Roxy Buske Irene Turk Selma Rogge junior girls Mase Rogge Willie Hazel Monroe Broxie McElroy Irene Henkhaus Evelyn Dreyer and junior boys Roy Mewes James Buseke Gene Schulze. American Legion Auxiliary Annual Meeting Held at City Hall

The American Legion Auxiliary held its meeting at City Hall on Thursday night February 12. The group thanked Shiner ladies for cakes and support in the Legion day effort. Members will start a membership drive with a goal of 100 percent. Leadership includes Anna Bozka as President and officers B R Kroublik, Elo Wolters, Agnes Kobler, Benno Molchak, Walter Muecke, and E J Tomasco on the executive committee.

Entire Faculty Enrolls in State Teachers Association

The Shiner High School faculty in Fort Worth area enrolled this week in the Texas State Teachers Association. Principal Charles Chovanetz reported the enlistment to the Association offices in Fort Worth. Several hundred teachers have joined since the year began as the membership drive progresses.
