Annual Meeting of Farmers Co Operative Gin Mill Ass'n Declares Dividend

The Farmers Cooperative Gin and Mill Association elected officers, declared a ten percent dividend on stock with Jan 31 1935 record, and issued a 50 cent rebate on cotton ginned in 1935. A committee studied purchasing a city fire truck pump to be kept safely and used by the local fire department. The group approved buying the truck from Shiner Motor Sales. 405 members. Directors re elected: Elsilk Baros No Novak Bohmann Nollkamp er Simper Ehlers. Reorganization set for a later date. Henry F. Ehlers re elected secretary treasurer.

Shiner Favored to Win County Crown in Feb Tourney

Hallettsville hosts a six team La Lavaca County basketball tournament February 14 and 15 to decide the county cage champion. Teams include Witting Komensky Moulton Breslau Shiner and Hallettsville with two byes and first round pairings Moulton versus Shiner and Hallettsville versus Witting. Shiner arrives as favorite after a 16 game winning streak from invitational play.

Senator Sulak Injured In Automobile Mishap

Senator L J Sulak sustained a head cut and rib injury in a two mile from Smithville auto crash while en route home from Austin. He swerved to avoid a Men Working sign, lost control, and rolled into a six foot ditch. He was unconscious briefly, revived by highway workers, and treated at La Grange hospital. The other driver, a Bastrop woman, was unhurt.

Shiner Comanches Capture Yorktown Tournament Title

Shiner Comanches win Yorktown Invitation Basketball Tour nament defeating Charco 50 to 14 to claim their third first place trophy this year. Coach Wright’s team also beat Victoria 19 to 18 and topped Yorktown 39 to 16, drawing large local support and eyeing the County Tournament with momentum.
