The Trades Day Association sponsors a poultry show with age divisions for under and over one year. Entries close December kg and birds for exhibition must be leg banded. Judging Wednesday morning December 18 with public viewing from 1 pm to 9 pm. Awards include blue and red ribbons with cash prizes. Chovanetz, chairman, lists entry contacts Joe Roeder and Thas Chovanetz.
The Shiner Volunteer Fire Department announces its annual New Year’s Eve Ball at Bluecher Park. On Tuesday night December 31st the event draws citizens to support the fire boys, the sole yearly fundraiser to boost their funds. A splendid place and occasion to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one.

The Women s Wesley Bible Class of the Methodist Sunday School invites all townspeople to join a Christmas Eve carol sing in front of the Methodist church at 10 PM. Carolers will visit homes in different town sections, with information by calling Mrs. J W Boyle Jr president at phone number 2.
Fireworks display at Bonarden’s venue draws crowds as 50 by 3 sections light up the sky. Spectators report bright bursts and festive atmosphere during the event.
If weather allows, Welhausen Park hosts the Community Christmas Tree lighting next Sunday Dec 15 at 6 pm. Selections by band invocation by Rev Wolfsdorf and others, address by Mr R Li Hayes, choir numbers by St Ludmila’s Academy and Hayes High School Glee Club, audience sing, Santa arrival for children under 11, and program closure by J C Blohm. The Chamber of Commerce notes the event moves from the Sunday before Christmas to the third Sunday in December.
Outdoor and indoor Xmas tree lighting sets are available at Shiner Electric Shop. The ad highlights decoration options for holiday displays and cautions shoppers to visit the store for complete selections.
The Lothrop School of Dancing presents Santa's Toy Shop at City Hall next Thursday night, Dec 19 at 7 45. Miss Joy Lothrop leads a joyous program with Toys in solo and group numbers. Net receipts go to two P T A organizations. Admission 10 and 20 cents.
