Recruiting officers in Shiner will be in town for a week or ten days, inviting men to enter the United States Army. Contact them at the Post Office for service and information. A Christmas season bridal shower honored Miss Natalie Fisseler hosted by Mrs. W. Tieken and Mrs. A. W. Nollkamper at the Nollkamper residence last Saturday. 78 guests signed the bride’s register, with 200 expected had weather allowed. The party featured a bride’s throne, rice shower, musical program, refreshments, and thanks to hosts, noting the upcoming marriage to Herman Barre of Yoakum.
Hallettsville churches will read the Lesson Sermon titled God the Preserver of Man on Sunday December 13 at 11 am. The Golden Text proclaims Preserve me O God and notes God is thy Savior. The passage adds I will be with thee through waters and fire and no harm shall come.
Immanuel Lutheran Church announces Holy Communion before the Sunday service at 10 30 a m with Sunday School at 9 45 a m. Everyone is welcome. Pastor A Bohot leads.
Shiner Public School will close on Wednesday December 23 and remain closed until Monday morning January 4 1987.

The Male Chorus performs It Came Upon a Midnight Clear and Silent Night Holy Night. Santa Claus arrives with gifts for children up to age ten. Mr J C Blohm presides.
Rev. A Guyon will fill his regular appointment at the Methodist church next Sunday. Public invited to worship with this congregation.

Cast includes Mrs Alb Kurtz Jr Edward Darilek Milton Riske Red Kurtz with supports Frank Kocian Charlie Kure Malvin Merrem Anita Kurtz. Admission 10 and 20 cents. Proceeds benefit the P T A.

Despite a damp Wednesday with heavy rain and nearly impassable roads, Shiner’s first Appreciation Day drew a larger crowd than expected. Merchants reported strong interest and satisfaction with the turnout and support.
Dr and Mrs F F Heger left last week for Livingston in Polk County where they will reside. They have many friends in Moulton who wish them health happiness and prosperity in their new home.
