A joint meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and Business Men's Club is scheduled for Thursday December 3 at 7:00 PM to finalize arrangements for the Santa Claus visit. All members are urged to attend this general wrap meeting.

A packed courtroom heard voir dire as jurors were chosen for the murder trial of A H Buddy Ludwig over the shotgun slaying of Bill Foeh on a public road at Witting October 8. A 60 member special venue was being questioned with 18 jurors asked, 15 excused for legal reasons, and nine for medical excuses. Testimony was expected to begin Tuesday.
Mrs. Charles Kuentzel of Vallejo California writes from afar to say she would like to return to Shiner. Her son Raymond Kuentzel joined the University of North Dakota football team. She also suggests the city fathers name and number the city streets.
Funeral services for Theodore Neumann 80 were held at Kubena Funeral Home and Sacred Heart Church Hallettsville. He died Nov 27 and leaves three sons seven daughters a sister two brothers and many grandchildren. Rosary was recited prior to the service. He was a retired farmer born Nov 8 1873.
The Baptist Sunday School presents a Christmas program on Wednesday December 16 at 7 00 p m in four parts with beginners juniors young people and adults. Refreshments follow an evening of fellowship.
In a calendar notice the Shiner High Band Concert is set for December 18 at 7 30 p m Mrs Otto Gloors kindergarten will perform a short program The Ways and Means Committee with Mrs W Tieken announces pies sandwiches coffee and cold drinks will be sold before and during intermission
Funeral services were held for Ernest Boysen 73 of Cheapside at Buffington Chapel in Yoakum with Dr. Paul Bechter officiating. Interment followed at Ruppert Cemetery in Cheapside. grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers. Born in Germany June 24 1880 he died November 29 in Yoakum aged 73 years 5 months 5 days. Survivors include two sons H C Boysen Sr Victor Boysen one daughter Mrs Arthur Wild five brothers Henry Will Herman and Richard Boysen of Gonzales and Fred Boysen of Path one sister Mrs Ella Johnson Cuero four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Attending from Shiner were Mr and Mrs E F Riske.
The Knights of Columbus sponsor a game party at the Catholic Parish Gym on December 13 from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. Proceeds go to the Athletic Fund. All are invited to attend.
A Christmas kickoff in Welhausen Park with Santa at 5 p.m. gifts for children, candy and fruit. The High School Band performs at 4 45 p.m. Caroling by Girl Scouts at 5 15 p.m. Santa's entry by red fire truck, traffic safety by officers and Boy Scouts.
Christmas preparations include lights strung from Catholic Church to Jos Muras corner with merchant displays brightening windows. Santa Claus arrival expected as committee from Chamber Men's Club selects new festive lights led by E A Mueller E J Kempe and Raymond Dierksen with John Degenhardt and Lee Sedlmeyer assisting.

Margaret Mann presents a piano recital at Shiner High School Gym on Thursday December 3 at 8 p.m. Included are members of the Yoakum class and the San Antonio Music Co. will furnish the piano. Public invited to attend to support the pupils.
The Shi ner Gazette announces its Yuletide Goodwill edition will publish Thursday December 24 with greetings from business firms professionals and individuals. Submissions for goodwill greetings and Christmas and New Year announcements are requested at once with sections printed starting December 18 and assist available from 4 3346.
Five cases were tried in District Court last week in Hallettsville by District Judge Lester Holt. Four defendants received suspended sentences and one got a two year penitentiary term. Jurors included Adamek, Benes, Kvinta, Kneifel, Smolik, Hinze, and Ziegler among others.
