Shiner Compress fills surrounding acreage with bales as daily shipments to Japan arrive. The yard, including to Gulf Refining and Texas storage tanks, is packed with cotton and the main road roped off. September Denmark reports 7000 bales in the current consignment bound for waiting ships at Houston.

Gap in Highway 95 to Be Completed

C Merseburger, representing Shiner Moulton and Yoakum, says the Highway Commission in Austin last Tuesday wants two caps completed on Highway 95 from Temple to Yoakum. Gaps lie between Elgin and Bastrop and Smithville and Flatonia. Elgin-Bastrop survey ordered. Smithville-Flatonia notes now prepared.

Robbery at Garbade’s Modern Cleaners

Thieves broke in through the rear window Wednesday night or last week and stole five suits and three dresses from Garbade’s Modern Cleaners. Two suits belonged to the owner, one dress to Mrs Garbade, and police have not yet apprehended the culprits.
