State Tax Rate Is Reduced 15c
Austin July 27 A 15 cent cut in the ad valorem tax rate was ordered by the state automatic tax board lowering the school portion from 35 cents to 20 cents while keeping the general fund at 35 cents and the pension fund at seven cents. The board, consisting of Governor Allred Comptroller Sheppard and Treasurer Lockhart, said the school levy of 20 cents should yield the maximum school apportionment of 17.50 per pupil next year, up from 16.50 currently.
