District Meet of Pythian Sisters Held at Rathbone Temple
The 4 an a my SI District Meet of Pythian Sisters Rathbone Temple No 78 entertained the district Thursday April 28th at the local Pythian Hall. District Deputy Mrs Irene Stell of Cuero called the session and organized the local temple twenty years ago. State Grand Chief Mrs Hattie Murphy of Waxahachie attended with Stell. Cuero delegates included Mrs Dolessi, McCrab and Peevey. Schulenburg was represented by Miss Emma Merrem and Mr and Mrs Wallace Bumgartner. The meeting opened at 2 30 pm with full initiatory work and ballots. Grand Chief and Deputy praised the staff especially Mrs Toulemeyer Captain of the Degree Team. Officials received hand painted china souvenirs and a sumptuous supper closed the afternoon of instruction and sociability.

One of the loveliest spring 42 parties was hosted by Mrs A A Darilek with help from her mother Mrs C Valenta. The rooms bloomed with spring flowers as five tables played and tally cards featured a spring motif. A course of ice cream and cake followed. Favors were candy oranges tied with bows on voile handkerchiefs. Fire Boys Guard Town Amid High Winds
During nights of strong winds the Shiner Volunteer Fire Company slept at the Opera House to stay near the Fire Station. Cots were set, six volunteers reported for duty each night, leaving homes and beds. The community praises their service, safeguarding life and property.

Aeroplane Wreck Ends Weekend Flight At Kelley Field
R J Baros and pilot B R Ertwine survived a weekend crash after landing at a rough field during a gale. The De Havilland 400 HP craft hit a hole, clipped a telephone pole, fence and railroad track, tossing Baros into barbed wire and injuring his face. Ertwine escaped unhurt. Damaged plane and auto truck recovery followed. both men were connected to Kelley Field with prior incident history.
