Barn Fire Destroys Kurtz Farm Structure

Albert Kurtz Jr on the Shiner Moulton road lost his barn Saturday at about 5 pm. He was away as Mrs Kurtz and the children were inside. Anita spotted smoke and raised the alarm. Sulphur Park and Moulton fire brigades responded, saving adjacent buildings and feed. Loss included barn feed wagon bed and hay stack.

Teachers Re-elected At Michna And Beasley Schools

Mrs. Bee Bednar and Mrs. Edgar Guettner were re elected teachers at Michna School for the upcoming term. A Michna School play sold 111 tickets. Beasley School elected Prof. Geo Kocian and Mrs. Myrtle Alice Evans as teachers.

Pioneer Citizens Claimed by Death

Funeral services for Gustav Schmidt, born October 13, 1857 in Germany, were held after his death on Tuesday April 18. The service began at 11 a.m. in the home and continued at Dr. Martin Luther Church with Rev. Schuetze in English. Burial was in Shiner City Cemetery. Survivors include two sons Arthur and Edmund, four daughters Hedwig Bender Lindenau Martha Seifert and Erna Wagner, 23 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Dedication Dance Shiner to Feature Joe Stanton Orchestra

Shiner's Garden Club displayed a top flower show with 611 visitors from multiple towns while planning a Dedication Dance Saturday night in the New Gymnasium Auditorium. Joe Stanton orchestra directed by Jimmy Weiller will perform, tickets 125 per couple, bleacher seating 25 cents, dance 830 to 1. Parking guidance provided.

Joseph Hranitzky Sr. Pioneer Resident Dies

Joseph Hranitzky Sr. a Mt. Olive pioneer died at his home on Saturday afternoon at 3 o clock. Funeral services were held Monday at the residence and burial followed in Shiner City Cemetery. Rev. Kuratko and Rev. A Guyon led last rites and prayers with the O D H S Lodge assisting. A choir sang hymns as relatives and friends escorted the coffin to the grave.

Obituary of Mr Hranitzky Aged 82 at Shin er Community

The funeral for Mr Hranitzky featured lavish floral offerings and pallbearers M E Wolters Louis Trautwein C B Welhausen Emil Schroeder Hy Plume and Anton Pesek. Born at Cat Spring he died at 82 years 1 month 27 days after moving to the Shin er community in 1891. He married Annie Kveton 62 years ago and left eight children including J E Hranitzky Mt Olive Emanuel Sweet Home Florence at home Martha Ashley Galveston Annie Ham Olive, plus six grandchildren. He was a splendid citizen who served his community. his loss is deeply felt by family and neighbors.

Wm Reichardt Jr. Passes Away After Heart Ailment

The community mourns William Reichardt Jr. 52, a trusted local figure of Shiner Texas, who died at 2 am Sunday after heart pain. A World War I veteran, he served in the AEF and fought in St Mihiel and Verdun, later working at Corner Drug Store Purity Creamery Southwest Gas and Herder Truck Line. Funeral Monday at 2 pm at his home then Shiner City Cemetery with American Legion honors.

Soft Ball Diamond Improvements Completed in Shiner

Night Soft Ball will start soon with six or more teams. The field is in first class shape with forty and fifty foot lighting poles, fourteen 1500 watt lamps, a regulation sixty foot diamond and twelve inch ball. A full summer season is planned with games against outside teams as two strong hard ball teams and many softball teams participate to mark baseball’s centennial.

Obituary: Reichardt Family Mourns Loss At Local Funeral

A large funeral in Cat Spring honored the passing of a local man. Survived by his father Wm Reichardt Sr., four brothers Hugo Fritz Otto Bede, three sisters Mrs P E Serger Mrs C F Blumberg Mrs J A Nelson, and a mother who died earlier in 1917 1933. The Gazette extends heartfelt sympathy.
