A severe storm delivering 6 to 8 inches of rain, hail as large as a baseball, and tornadic winds devastated crops from Peach Creek through Sunset, Menger, Green, and Charlottenburg. Corn and cotton losses were heavy, fences and bridges damaged, and about 45 percent crop loss reported near the Green farm.
