The Bundles for Britain warehouse at 112 West 89th Street reports 17 000 plus surgical tools valued at 21 000 ready for shipment to the British Red Cross via the American Red Cross within 24 hours. Little Boy Falls From Car Near Yoakum

Hugo Raymond Stoeltje, one and a half, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Stoeltje, suffered head injuries last Wednesday after falling from a car en route to Shiner from Lone Tree near Yoakum. He was taken to Huth Memorial Hospital and, by Tuesday, returned home in satisfactory condition with no serious outcomes anticipated.

Justice Court Convicts Two Swindlers in City Case

Edward Thompson and Lonnie Stevens, both colored, were tried in justice court on a swindling charge. They were found guilty and fined $50 each plus court costs. J P Kloesel presided. County Attorney Wm Allen prosecuted for the State and F J Saunders Jr of San Antonio defended the defendants. Houston's Son Named U.S. Senator by Texas Governor

April 21. Andrew Jackson Houston, son of Sam Houston, was appointed United States senator by Governor W Lee O Daniel at the San Jacinto battlefield celebration. He serves until June 28 when a special election will fill the unexpired term of the late Morris Sheppard. The governor cited history in praising Houston and noted no prior recommendations for the post.

Shiner Girl Hosts Short Course Guests at TSCW

Denton April 22 Miss Aline Wolters of Shiner served as special hostess and guide at the fifteenth annual Short Course at Texas State College for Women last week. Over 1000 women from 35 north Texas counties attended the event conducted with the extension service of A and M College. Wolters majors in business administration and is the daughter of Edwin Wolters.

Shiner Public School presented a program on April 20 featuring remarks from Dr Jack and Dr Kahn. The ceremony included acts by the faculty, a Military Escort, and performances by the Girls Sextet including Eve Nweeer Iris Baca and Viola Macha. Bashful Bobby High School Play Draws Big Crowd

The Shiner High School auditorium hosted the Senior Class play 1941 Bashful Bobby on Friday night April 18. The performance featured the senior class finale with I am an American sung by all, ten Dainty Damsels dressed as girls dancing Ten Pretty Girls, and strong character portrayals reflecting life as it might have been. The red white and blue theme appeared throughout with Evelyn Seidenberger reading Patriotism and Mrs Edwin Gehrels at the piano.

Wolters Party Returns From Trip To Big Lake

Mr M E Wolters with Oscar Wolters and Emil Schulz of Schulenburg returned Thursday from a trip to Big Lake. They report the country there looking fine with plenty of sheep and goats. In San Angelo they called on Dr Victor Schulze who was on a call, and they also viewed Mrs Schulze and their beautiful new home.

Bohmann Menke Wedding at United Dr. Martin Luther Church

Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock Marie Selma Menke daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Menke and Ed gar J Bohmann son of Mr and Mrs Henry Bohmann of Stockdale exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony officiated by Pastor R Schuetze. The church glowed with pink roses and the chancel was curtained with floral arrangements. Ushers Ed win Jahne and Leonard Valek lit candles as pre wedding music featured Anine Zappe and Irene Klos. The bride wore white satin and lace with orange blossom coronet and carried white calla lilies. the groom wore a light blue suit with a white carnation boutonniere. The couple, graduates of Shiner and Stockdale High Schools, will reside in the F Winkler apartment after a three tier wedding cake reception for close family and friends. Out of town guests included Bohmann and Sells families of Stockdale, Stroman family of Eagle Pass, Virginia Vogelsang of Austin and George Vogt of San Antonio.

Funeral for Miss Mozelle Chenault Set Wednesday

Miss Mozelle Chenault died early Tuesday in Shiner hospital at age 28. Funeral services will be held at 10 o clock Wednesday morning at Robertson and Seydler chapel with Rev. Hal C. Wingo and Rev. E A Franks officiating and interment in City Cemetery. Survivors are her parents, Mr and Mrs J W Chenault, and two brothers Charles Polk Chenault and William Maurice Chenault. She was principal of the Eakernot school and had been a teacher in that district, known throughout Gonzales County.
