Principal F E Wright, a popular figure in Shiner, resigns from the high school faculty. The long time educator and Standoline Oil geologist, Mrs Wright, will join him as soon as replacement is found. The Business Men's Club enjoyed a rare treat as the Home Economics Class of Shiner High served a delicious meal in the English room. About fifty guests attended ladies night, with a $10 Red Cross donation sparked by Mrs. Eli Wolters. Mae Jean Faulkner and Maurine Koether led an enjoyable program including piano, vocal, flute, clarinet, tap, saxophone, and a group finale to The Eyes of Texas.

Extensions Granted Routes Two and Four

Postmaster Herder informs the Gazette that two extensions on rural routes out of Shiner will become effective May 1. Route 2 will have 3.20 miles from H. Luedecke corner to Mrs. Albert Discher's with retrace to Lue decke corner. Route 4 will have 4.20 miles from the W. Hoerig corner to Becka corner then to Tronicek to Mrs. Polasek corner with retrace 1.20 to follow regular route. Extensions aid farmers living two miles from boxes and will serve 45 patrons along the new segments. Patrons are urged to see their carriers about box specifications.
