Extension Class Honored At High School Social

A Teachers Extension Study Class at the High School was treated to a mid afternoon gathering after exams. Prof. and Mrs. T. H. Ladies Aid Meeting at Dr Martin Luther Church

The Ladies Aid of Dr Martin Luther Church met with seventy seven members and six guests. Rev Pfenninger led prayer and scripture, one new member joined, and praise was given for Church Council improvements. Luther League purchased 100 chairs transforming Luther Hall into banquet space. Next meeting set for April 29 due to Synod assembly.

The Cemetry Society will hold their annual apron bonnet bazaar at the K Hall on Saturday April ginning at 2 30 P M. Proceeds go to society funds with crafts and garments for sale and entries from members.

City Election Confirms Administration With Unopposed Ticket

Voters backed the present City Administration in Tuesday’s city election with 67 total votes. Mayor E Rank led the slate, City Sec J M Canon received 64 votes, Aldermen C J Garbade John F Kasper 62, while Ben Novak Louis Wagener Edwin Wolters Gus Siems and B R Holchak each drew one vote. F R Morgenthaler presided, assisted by Emil Morgenroth and J H Huebner.

Four incumbent trustees retained seats in school election

Last Saturday's school trustee election kept the existing four on the board, seen as a clear endorsement of current leadership. Arno Wagener and C. B. Stratman each received 47 votes, Alois Kasper 45, Peter Kuhn 45, with several individuals earning one vote each and 48 total ballots cast. Morgenthaler chaired the election with Morgenroth and Kasper assisting.

Theodore H. Leslie of the Shiner schools has enrolled as a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association. Life Member No. 556, he is among 188 new members since January 1. Life members pay a $25 fee added to the permanent fund. the association plans to enroll 1,000 this year.

A special meeting of the Commercial Club is set for Thursday April 9 at City Hall to elect officers and conduct important business. Residents and members are urged to attend and participate in the proceedings.

XX Century Club Meeting Reviews Genre and Still Life Works

The XX Club met Thursday afternoon April 2 at Mrs. Joe Hughs home with 18 members present. Officers reports were accepted. Mesdames Schramm and Wendtland volunteered for the rest room. Mrs. Waldrop was unanimously elected to membership. The program studied Genre and Still Life paintings with members presenting works including Stella worn The Gleaners by Miller, Striebeck The Parrot Cage by Jan Steen, and Wolters Grace Before Meat by Chardin. The next meeting is April 16 with Mrs. Welhausen hosting and allegorical paintings to be studied.

Good Friday service at 10 o'clock includes communion. Easter Sunday arrives at the usual hour with Communion. Sunday School presents a special program at 7 30.

Ponton and Chambers United in Four O Clock Baptist Ceremony

Ponton and Miss Nola Chambers were married at the Baptist Parsonage with Rev. J. M. Mizzell officiating. The couple, from prominent Ezzell families, received relatives and friends, then traveled to Yoakum before settling in San Antonio for their future home.
