Shiner Falls Flatonia In Thirteen Inning Opener

Flatonia defeated Shiner 2 to 1 in thirteen innings as Kolar and Turek pitched well. Shiner led 1 0 but an error in the ninth tied the score, and Flatonia won with two consecutive hits in the thirteenth. Captain Mikulik and Manager Richter praised the effort after no prior workouts due to wet grounds. Striebeck's sharp defense and sensational plays stood out as Shiner prepares a new home field.

Commercial Club Elects Officers Again

At last Thursday night’s regular meeting the Commercial Club held its annual officer election. All current officers were re elected with H. H. Striebeck named president Elo Wolters vice president T J Ponton secretary and Peck Welhausen treasurer in a light April Fool nod to the members.

School Trustee Election Showed Sparse Last Saturday Ballot

In the recent school trustee election only a few votes were cast. Incumbents Peck Welhausen and S A Thulemeyer did not run again. The ballot listed Wm Wendtland Jr 31 Otto Dreyer 33 H G Hollman 30. Two complimentary votes went to H H Striebeck and Edgar C Wolters. F R Mergenthaler J J Macha and Aug Kasper oversaw the count.

City Election Results Show Vote Totals for Candidates

Tuesday's election produced B C Mraeburger with 46 votes and Theo Rogge with 37. Complementary votes added 16 to Louis Trautwein and 1 each to BE Buske Aug Kaspar. Election officials listed were F R Mengenthaler Emil Morgenroth and Aug Kaspar.

J Muecke Visits San Antonio This Week

J Muecke, a visitor from San Antonio, spent the week in the city and toured local sites. He met with residents and discussed regional affairs during his stay.

The Shiner Baseball Team forms under Ad Richter as Manager and Jeff Mikulik as Captain. The roster features Ben Kasper Jeffry Mikulik Benno Holchak Edwin Lichey Louis Striebeck Otto Stanley Jerry Turek Rudy Garbade Curt Messer Thomas Hughs with Edwin Mikulik Roscoe and Shelly Canon slated to join after school terms end. The club promotes an all home, no paid team as a city asset and motto favors losing with local players over winning with paid men.

The Shiner Gazette announces R. J. Staffa as a Democratic Primary candidate for Tax Assessor of Lavaca County on July 24, 1926. A Texan native born in Fayette County 52 years ago, Staffa has lived in Lavaca County 42 years. Fluent in English, German and Bohemian, he promotes conservative administration and pledges diligent, capable service if elected.

Anton Psencik Newest Can didate For Public Weigher

Anton Psencik appears as a candidate for Public Weigher in Precinct 3. He farms on Shiner Route 8 with his family for five years and previously ran the Henkhaus Store in 1922. Psencik served six years as Public Weigher in Plum Fayette County and was re elected without opposition. He appeals to voters to consider him, promising good and satisfactory service if elected.

Prof. A J Elster of Shiner Texas declares his bid for Lavaca County school superintendent in the Democratic primary. Born 1882 in the county he has 20 years teaching experience across county and city schools, served on the county board of examiners and as county school trustee, and a former Shiner Summer Normal faculty member.
