Serious Car Wreck On Western Outskirts Monday

A head on collision on the western outskirts Monday evening involved Chas Malina and his wife en route to town and Mitchel Harper colored. All three were hospitalized with injuries. Malina had a broken leg and remained in hospital while Mrs Malina was treated and released. Harper had a broken arm and was released Tuesday. Both cars were badly damaged.

Death of Baby Ruby Katherine Gosch

Mr and Mrs C G Gosch of Muldoon mourn the loss of their infant daughter Ruby Katherine born March 28 at Wagner’s Hospital and died March 30. Funeral service and interment were conducted by Eschenburg Funeral Parlor with procession from Shiner to Muldoon Cemetery. Surviving parents are joined by grandparents Mr and Mrs J A Gosch and Mr and Mrs G J Parker of Flatonia.

Leans Defeat Fats in Shiner Benefit Game

The Leans beat the Fats of Shiner 11 to 8 at Welhausen Diamond in a Bundles for Britain fundraiser. It ended a long run of Fats victories, and the event raised 27.55 dollars for the club treasury as players noted aging in the crowd.

Low income cotton farmers in Lavaca county stand to gain from the Supplementary Cotton Program. Chairman O. E. Hermes says reducing cotton acreage not only cuts surplus but boosts home production of food and supplies. Payments include 10 cents per pound for reduced yield, with caps of 25 or 50 dollars depending on farm setups, plus a 3 dollar incentive for storage and home use.

NEW BABIES Mr and Mrs Perry Harbers welcomed a baby girl named Joyce Jean born Friday. Mr and Mrs Jim Fikac have a baby boy named Ernest Victus born on 1. A girl Monica Rose was born to Mr and Mrs Anton Hinch of Moravia at the local hospital on Monday. Mrs M M Wagner in San Antonio at the bedside of her sister Mrs C B Plummer who is seriously ill but improved. Mrs Wagner donated blood for transfusions.
