Elwood Post Office Postmaster Pick Sparks Local Buzz

Elwood politics hums over the appointment of Alva M. Newcomer as postmaster at a salary of 2400 per year. His father in law L N Newcomer and physician brother G V Newcomer influence the move, with Newcomer’s name sent to the Senate last Friday and held up by telegram objections.

Perry Sallee Fined After Assault Charge in Tipton

Perry Sallee of Ekin was fined one dollar and costs at Tipton on an assault and battery charge against a young man named Fox. Witnesses said Sallee is peaceful when sober but violent when drinking. He attacked Fox in a drunken state, and friends feared a penitentiary term. He promised to abstain and felt he had a narrow escape.

Dynamo Overload Causes Light Outage for Two Nights

A dynamo at the light plant overloaded after Friday evening failure suspended lights for two nights. The 1200 lamp machine now runs about 1500 lamps, and a missed upgrade last fall left the board with no plan to replace it promptly. The overloading threatens total wreck, though producer machinery works well aside from unusual noise.

Horse Trade Causes Suit in Noblesville Court

In Noblesville Indiana Albert Carter vs John Starn and Ross Hunt ended with a verdict for Carter awarding $30 for a horse sale dispute. The horse bought for 896 was older and often unusable, and it was killed. The Deppen will was set aside with share to Mrs Deppen. Emmet Armstrong guardian is W G Miller. Capital Circuit Traction plans belt line survey progress

The Capital Circuit Traction company announces surveying complete and profiles progressing for a belt line around Indianapolis. Fifty year franchises secured through Noblesville, Lebanon, Danville, Martinsville, Franklin, Greenfield and Shelbyville as seven county seats join the route.
