Eighteenth Reunion Held by Hamilton County Women’s Relief Corps

The Women's Relief Corps of Hamilton County held a full day reunion at the M. E. church in Noblesville with seven corps invited. About 142 meals were served in three sections at the Kercheval hotel. Officers elected include President M. A. O'Brien and Vice President Mary Pfaff, with plans for a 1908 Noblesville gathering.

First Reunion of 158th Indiana Volunteers Planned

The 158th Indiana Volunteers hold their first reunion in Kokomo on Wednesday August 7 with plans for a memorable gathering. Kokomo citizens promise abundant entertainment and an old army dinner in the city park. Company F of Sheridan is invited and a good turnout from this area is expected.

Knights Defeat Red Men in EPWORTH League Hit Result

The Knights overwhelmed Tipton’s Red Men 15 to 11 in a midweek Epworth League game. Geo. W. Osborn dazzled with curves on the mound as Fouch anchored strong defense. Two more games remain in the three game series, with players Jones and Horton joining from California for the rematch. Fred Davis and Miss Mabelle Northam wed in Sheridan. The Logansport Epworth League Convention met in Tipton with 44 Senior and 29 Junior chapters totaling over three thousand members. Dr. Smith presided, Rev. Swadner delivered the sermon, and Taylor University’s Male Quartette drew applause.

Sheridan Boy Headed for Manila Civil Service Appointment

B N Walker, a Sheridan student and Indiana University graduate, wins a competitive Civil Service post in the War or Insular Department to teach in the Philippines. He travels via San Francisco and Hong Kong, reaching Manila around August 10 for a two year term at about 1200 yearly plus about 200 for travel and expenses. Ted Johnson also made the eligible list but awaits appointment.

The Kirklin school house has been condemned and any school or township trustees teachers or other persons using it after June 1 1907 will be prosecuted as provided by law.

Farm Residence Burned by Coal Oil Stove Near Eagle

The country home of Ellis Roberts, located half a mile south of Eagle town, was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning. The blaze started when he left a coal oil stove burning to feed stock. he suffered facial burns on entering the kitchen. The wife escaped unharmed. The home valued at 3000 dollars was among the finest in the area.

Lightning Strikes Wainscott Barn Near Sheridan

A thunderstorm on Monday morning burned the Wainscott barn northeast of Sheridan with stallions and cattle inside but all livestock except a sow were led out. Loss including grain and tools will run about 750 dollars with partial insurance. A Sacred Concert at the Methodist church last Sunday was enjoyed despite the storm. it may be repeated on July 14 with changes.
