R W Imel of Lebanon, Boone County agent, reported Sheridan farmers will double alfalfa acreage this year as 300 acres now grow and plans exist to sow at least 300 more. He visited Isaac and Milford Evans, William Buntin, T J Gibbs, Charles Howard and Marion township growers. Hog cholera concerns were raised with emphasis on cleanliness, balanced rations, charcoal and tonics. To promote the Chautauqua, local business owners and part of the Sheridan band toured a 75 mile circuit distributing illustrated programs and tickets while stopping at towns with musical entertainment and discussions of attendance.

Man Found Dead Along Railroad Near Kirklin
The body of Stephen Madison was found about one mile north of Kirklin along the Monoy track by a section man. A half filled whiskey jug lay beside him. He and his brother Jobo had been living in a tent nearby, doing odd jobs. He was about 50 and likely died Saturday night. The coroner's verdict: death from alcoholism.
