Guilty Verdict in Liquor Sale Case in Noblesville
In Noblesville Indiana on June 7 1917 C B Scherer was found guilty of selling a pint of whisky to four Indianapolis detectives last January. He was fined 250 and sentenced to six months at the Penal Farm. Judge Purvis will rule on the verdict in three to four days and an appeal is considered likely. Other liquor sale cases against Scherer are pending. The D recorr case is described as one of the heaviest penalties for liquor violations in the circuit court.

Hamilton county led the way at the 16th annual inter scholastic field meet in Chicago with two first places. Russell Williams of Sheridan won the shot put with 47 feet 5 1 2 inches and Hull of Noblesville captured the high jump at 5 feet 11 inches. Richardson of Sheridan missed the event due to absence. The meet, held at Stagg Field under poor weather, awarded silver cups, including a $50 keepsake from Williams’ family. Williams had set county, district and state records earlier.

Runaway Sprinkling Wagon Ends With Falls on Main Street
F C Eudaly and Bert Hillock tried to halt a runaway team attached to a sprinkling wagon on Main Street. They tumbled after a collision, suffering hand and hip injuries to Eudaly and general shakiness to Hillock. The out of control team stopped on West Fourth Street without further damage.
