Widow Margaret Burton Dies at 84 in Kinikin Home
Mrs. Margaret Burton widow of J J Burcor died Monday night at her daughter Mrs Wm Gunn near Kikin. Age 84 she had lived locally for nine years. Survivors include Mrs Ed Small Mrs W M Honnold Mrs Wr Gunn Mrs Charles Honnold Mrs Thomas Ogle Samuel Cade and James Burton. Cause cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were held at East Union church Thursday morning.

Car Wreck at Mikels Crossing Injures Three Boys
A Maxwell owned by Dr. O C Newby wrecked Sunday night at Mikels Crossing southeast of town. Occupants Jack Stotler Devie Harrison and Wilmer Ogle were shaken up with Ogle unconscious for some time. Stotler driving swerved to avoid a rig and turned into a yard, causing the car to overturn and damage to the front wheels and fenders.

Death at Arcadia of Civil War veteran Samuel DeVaney
Samuel DeVaney a prominent retired farmer died at his Arcadia home after a six weeks illness. He was 75 and a Civil War soldier. Funeral arrangements are pending with the local church.

Austrian Taken Near Sheridan In Alien Enemies Roundup
Local authorities picked up Adolph Teagle a 53 year old Austrian near Charley Ringer’s farm southeast of town during a widening alien enemy sweep. He claimed to go to Frankfort then Noblesville, but lacked credible papers. 1856 naturalization papers and $18 to $20 were found on him. He said he lived in St. Louis previously, though he could not confirm his current whereabouts.

A thunderstorm struck the Lon Gilliam place west of Arcadia damaging a former No 5 Jackson township schoolhouse used as a barn with several tons of hay inside. The blaze destroyed both structures and most of the loss is covered by insurance.
