Politics Heating Up in Hamilton County After New Year

The Hamilton County political scene begins to stir as January township conventions allow would be candidates to announce. County officers are up for election next fall with several offices still lacking declared contenders. Nominations for Sheriff, Commissioners, Judge, Treasurer, Auditor, Representative, Prosecutor, Surveyor and Coroner are planned for February, while Trustee and Assessor seats will be contested again in November. Several positions remain unclaimed as candidates hesitate to declare.

Williams Signs Year Contract With Barber Asphalt

E T Williams who went to Philadelphia two weeks ago in response to a telegram from the president of Barber Asphalt company returned Friday after signing a year long contract. His work will take him to Trinidad Island in South America and he will leave January 1. He will be accompanied by his brother Frank and Wm McKinzie.

No Champions This Year At Indiana High School Meet

The Indiana high school athletic board met in Wa bash and decided no team will be awarded the championship this year due to numerous claimants. A rule to abolish ringers aims to promote cleaner contests, and a student may play four years even if out of school a year, a question previously debated at Kokomo.

Won't Deliver to Santa Mail This Year

Express Rates Go Higher Between Indianapolis and Sheridan

Beginning next Tuesday December 17 a new express matter price schedule goes into effect. The old rate of 40 cents per hundred rises to 50 cents an increase of 25 percent. Northern origin letters remain unchanged while shipments between Indianapolis and Sheridan incur the higher rate. Free delivery service, begun last spring in Sheridan, continues.
