The Shakespeare Club and guests including Profs Stuart and Teter and Dr Clark Newby journeyed by hay wagon for a pleasant picnic near Big Springs. The group, largely teachers and graduates, enjoyed supper fireside songs stories and a college yell before returning at night. Funeral for P. G. Pearson at A. C. Pearson home
The funeral for P. G. Pearson will be held at 5 o'clock this Friday evening at A. C. Pearson's residence on Fifth Street. Reverend Wm. Northam will conduct the services. Interment follows at Pearson graveyard one mile east of Sheridan at 6 p.m. The Fourth Reunion of the Davis family is set for August 16, 1902 at the new M. E. Church in Anderson Indiana. Charles F. Racing meet to be held in Frankfort next week
The Racing Association of Frankfort will hold a four day meeting in the city next week. The program includes three harness races and one running event each day. Harness purses are $300 for each race. Two Sheridan horses are entered and many locals are expected to attend.

Phineas G Pearson a longtime Hamilton county figure died after a monthlong illness at age 77. A Mexican War veteran and county history authority he served as a company cook and secretary to Captain Addison Duce in the Civil War and aided veterans seeking pensions. He settled in Sheridan after Boxley and predicted electric lights and streetcars for the town before his death.

Hamilton County Pioneer Dies Near Sheridan at 81
An elderly Hamilton County pioneer died Saturday four miles south of Sheridan at age 81 after five years invalidism from paralysis. He migrated from Kentucky in 1847 and settled on the farm where he passed away, leaving a wife and three sons. Funeral services were held Monday at the M. E. Church in Joliet, conducted by Rev. Canse of Logansport.
