Senator Scott and Smith Fight in Wheeling Bank
In Wheeling West Virginia United States Senator Scott and former State Senator 8 G Smith fought in the Dollar Savings Bank after a public remark that Senatorship had been bought at auction. About forty blows were exchanged with Scott sustaining a black eye a bruised face and a damaged nose. Smith escaped with minor injuries. The feud stems from Republican factional divisions with Swisher and Scherr tickets. Scott is now in seclusion under a physician's care near Wheeling and is feared to be seriously affected healthwise.

Boy Recovers After Skin Graft From Father and Uncle
A Baltimore area paper reports Pat Paden, a young boy, suffered severe burns when boiling water spilled on him. Surgeons grafted about 25 skin strips taken from his father and uncle, then applied the grafts to the burnt back and shoulders. The operation, performed by Drs. Cullen, Davis, and others, involved careful preparation and mounting of the skin. Recovery will show in the days ahead as the grafts either take or fail.
