Michigan to collect use tax on out-of-state purchases
Michigan State Revenue Commissioner Clarence W. Lock announces that the state will collect a 4 percent use tax from residents who buy from out-of-state retailers or via mail order. Officials in neighboring states will exchange information to identify Michigan residents owing the tax, improving enforcement and recapturing lost revenue for Michigan merchants.

City spent several days with her mother Mrs Vera Kennedy and attended a Teachers Institute in Saginaw on Thursday and Friday. They then joined the institute in Bay City Friday afternoon. Alberta Johnson of Alma and several Alma and Mr Pleasant families visited the O Connors in Michigan for a pre Thanksgiving gathering Saturday night November 4. Sherries Childers visited Clinton Aller in Houghton Lake and then traveled to West Branch Standish Pinconning and Midland spending the evening with J C Miller and family in Greendale. Bob Barnes of Larsing visited Basil Barnes and Ted Jones and family in rural Mt Pleasant.
