Michigan planners backed by state and federal efforts push scenic highway goals. I-75 between Indian River and Gaylord showcases road beauty amid plans to fund billboard removal litter cleanup and landscaping under the Federal Highway Beautification Act.
The Shepherd FFA chapter thanks the community for seed sales support. Twenty two of forty four members sold seeds, with totals from 1.51 to 51.30 and retail sales of 328.32 averaging 14.35 per seller. Chapter profit equals 105.36 and funds are earmarked for the school forest dam site, inspected by the boys.
The Shepherd Extension Group met at Mrs. Opal Miller's home on March 22 with eight members present. Minutes were read and approved. Mrs. Clifford Harry and Mrs. Mort Balcom led a Fit For Fashion lesson. The next meeting, hosted by Mrs. Clifford Harry and Mrs. Thomas Steele Sr, is set for Tuesday April 26 at a home hosted by Mrs. Mace Crowell with lunch served.
The Willing Workers Club met at Mrs. Katie Coho’s home on March 24 with 11 members and one guest. A chicken dinner was served at 12:30 and the afternoon was spent visiting. The next meeting is set for April 28 at Mrs. Barbara Hoover’s home.
