Aid balance in education urged by chemical engineers council
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers calls for stronger industrial support of education and research in chemical engineering to balance rising federal funding. Unrestricted grants to individuals and departments are highlighted as most effective, with industry urged to sustain and increase backing. Industries needing top chemical engineers should heed the plea, amid broader comments on federal versus industry objectives. The piece also notes an upcoming Washington visit by France’s President Charles de Gaulle for a working meeting, avoiding frills.
