Special Election In Coe Township on January 23
Coe Township voters will go to the polls January 23 for a special election. Residents choose to permit or refuse the Board transferring three years of social tax levy funds into the Contingent Fund to buy the building housing Shepherd Hardware and Implement Co. Carroll and Stilgenhauer own the property and may sell. Also on the ballot is continued library support funded at 1,400 dollars. its fate hinges on the vote.

Truck Driver Killed In Train Collision Near St Louis
Francis W. Schell of 211 River Court St Louis died Friday noon when his truck struck a train at the US 27 and M 46 intersection west of St Louis. State Police Ithaca Post say he failed to see flashing lights and veered into a ditch to avoid impact. The crash derailed part of the train and traffic rerouted for two hours. Schell operated an oil distribution business and left a wife and four children.

State Police Urge Extra Caution During Holidays
The Michigan State Police announce increased patrols for the 78 hour Christmas and New Year weekends to curb holiday accidents. They note 103 Michigan deaths in the final 16 days of last December versus 53 in the first 15 days, with 30 deaths during Christmas and 36 at New Year. Commissioner Joseph A.
