Fire damages Shafter-Wasco Ginning Co warehouse
An estimated 10000 damage struck the Shafter Wasco Ginning Company when a welding torch used to repair a seed auger ignited a fire at 8 20 a m. The blaze destroyed 275 bales of Indian fiber patterns and damaged the corrugated roof and wooden beams. Fire crews from Shafter Wasco and a control car battled the flames for about 30 minutes. Insurance covered the loss.

Police Save Man From Near Fatal Accident
Phillip Earl Hill, 30, was found sleeping beneath a freight car in Santa Fe yards south of Shafter depot by Officers Blake and Henley. He had been jailed for intoxication and was ordered to 12 days in the county jail by Judge E K Grant. He thanked the officers for waking him from the dangerous situation.
