Legion Plans Dedication of Veterans Memorial Building

Chestley Powell of Shafter escaped serious injury after his small pickup collided head-on with a tank truck on Highway 466 about five miles west of Wasco. Powell suffered a fractured leg. House-Trailer Fire at 523 Lerdo Road Damages Mattress
Two local blazes last week, one in a house-trailer at 523 Lerdo Road owned by Harry A Cameron. The fire, caused by careless smoking, started in a mattress at 4:14 p.m. City and county crews contained it with no serious damage. A separate early-morning blaze at 4:50 a.m. involved a 1938 Oldsmobile owned by Clyde Hartzell in Spicer City, reportedly due to car wiring.

The Bank of America in town completed a four month remodeling and expansion doubling size from 1,300 to over 2,600 square feet. Capital Co. of San Francisco supervised with local labor.
