California leads gains in planted cotton with eight percent more acres while national output falls from late season rains. Experts Hyer Anderson and Smith say yield per acre dips due to late planting but overall production rises thanks to expanded plantings. Foreseeable good prices around 38 cents per pound support grower profits.
