Shafter High School hosts the 75th Shafter Wasco rivalry game on Saturday November 8 at 2 p.m. with a reunion of SHS band alumni planned. Past majorsettes drill teams banners and color guards will join. A one time rehearsal is set for Friday November 7 at 7 p.m. A $10 fee covers a T shirt game admission and a Coke. Buttonwillow Fall Farm Festival and SHS 1973 Reunion
The Buttonwillow Chamber of Commerce plans the annual Fall Farm Festival on September 20 with a pancake breakfast parade at 11 a.m. and a barbecue with vendors. The SHS Class of 1973 30 reunion dinner remains September 26 at the school grounds, with a later event at Chalet Basque, Bakersfield on September 27 at 6 p.m.

City paints bike paths on major Kern County streets
The city plans bicycle lane painting along Nickel Street, Central Avenue, East Tulare, Manuel, North Shafter and Lerdo Highway with $61,000 allocated for work and new signs to be posted.
