New teachers welcomed at Richland and Maple schools
The Shafter Press notes new teaching staff at Richland Lerdo and Maple schools for the new year. Valerie Chien will teach first grade at Richland Primary, formerly in Lynn's Valley and McFarland, with a masters in education. At Maple, Sandy Edquist starts kindergarten, with 12½ years teaching across intermediate levels, and Keith and Carol join seventh grade duties sharing classes. Keith is Wasco native, a Westmont College graduate with a Bakersfield CSF credential. Carol, from North Carolina, taught business at Wasco Union High and now keyboarding at Maple part-time.
