Elated Yosemite Hike Turns Long Adventure for Poland Family
Randy Poland, longtime high country climber and El-Tejon Band Director, led his wife and son-in-law on a prearranged Yosemite hike. What began as a 4-5 hour descent became an 11.5 hour ordeal down a 3000 foot plus drop. Carr suffered dehydration, Poland twisted an ankle, and both boats were lost. Despite the hardships, the party praised the scenery. Poland joked he picked a day off to avoid being late for work and celebrated his 60th birthday the day before.
