New landfill hours shorten daily hours this winter
County Public Works Director L Dale Mills announced that all County landfills close one hour earlier starting November 1 1979 due to shorter daylight. From November through February the Shafter Wasco Landfill will be open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily for refuse disposal. He urged rubbish be securely contained in haul to prevent litter along streets and highways. Inflation may be up about ten percent but farmland values are expected to rise about 14 percent per USDA economists.
