Awards At First Annual Shafter Hobby Show
Local residents earned ribbons and merchandise orders at Shafter’s inaugural hobby show held Friday and Saturday in the Chanpson building. Highlights included Don Little’s steam engine, Bill Thompson’s archery gear, and a loom display from the Shafter Farm Workers’ community. More than 2000 people attended as Boy Scouts and the high school band added to the event.

Shafter Kiwanis Parade Plans for Friday Evening
The annual Hallowe en children's parade sponsored by the Shafter Kiwanis club is set for tomorrow evening. Harvey Gaede chairs the arrangements with a lineup forming at the Legion hall at 6 30. Prizes of 2 1 and 3 dollars will reward best animal and comical costumes and a grand prize. Judges include Mrs. Ghanneson Little and Thomas. The route runs from Legion hall to Five Corners then Central avenues to Santa Fe back to the hall and down Anun Tamec street to the bank corner. Masks and favors will be given. a police patrol will manage traffic. Kiwanis members and the Shafter high school band will lead the procession.

A new Shafter Coordinating Council urged community groups to entertain enlisted men from the United States Army Air Corps. The first event, a 50-man gathering, is set for this evening at the Wednesday Afternoon clubhouse with the Rotary club assisting. Plans include an E. B. party, pumpkin pie refreshments, and cards and dancing. Meetings discussed future events, church involvement, and fundraising from the Shafter Recreation fund currently over 700 dollars.
