Awareness Group invites domestic violence victims in Shafter
The AAFY hosts a 16 week Awareness Group for women who are victims of domestic violence meeting each Thursday at 1 pm in the Probation Department in Shafter. Sessions run about 90 minutes and the group aims to stop abuse and help women reclaim their lives. Air Museum Partners with Kern County Museum
The Minter Field Air Museum partners with Kern County Museum for a Veterans Day Military Vehicle Show on November 11 at the Kern County Museum grounds on North Chester Ave after the downtown parade. From 2 to 7 pm expect near 50 vehicles including trucks half tracks amphibians and jeeps with a Pearl Harbor tug highlighted. Proceeds split between the two groups with raffles and auctions featuring a M 1 Carbine rifle and a 1930 Chrysler sedan donated by Jim Calanchini.

Sisters Deliver On Same Day In Wasco
Two Wasco sisters Maribel Monroy and Erica Monroy gave birth on the same day at Kern Medical Center with Dr. Juan Lopez of National Health Services, Inc. Maribel delivered Isabella while Erica joined as a roommate hours later. both pregnancies were planned and the due dates were about two weeks apart.

Three People Killed In Weekend Shafter Accidents
Three people died in separate weekend crashes near Shafter. Guadalupe Hernandez, 59, from Lamont died in a head on collision on East Lerdo Highway near Cherry Ave around 9 30 p m Friday. Donna Lynn Barnes, 48, of Shafter died Sunday at 7 15 a m after a semi struck her while she parked and attempted a u turn. Ruben Solis Rojas, 64, of Shafter died Sunday at 3 p m when a pickup with a trailer ran a stop sign at Merced Ave and Palm Ave. two others were airlifted to hospital. Authorities warn of blind intersections and urge adherence to traffic laws.
