Shafter Lawyers Sue Over $157 784 Damages
Chan neson and Mortimore of Shafter join Wasco counsel in two suits seeking $83 892 from Lloyd Kinard and $73 892 from Brunswick Cigar Store. Dewey Coleman, a Wasco Negro, says Kinard attacked him December 10 as he entered the store, injuring him and accusing him of racial bias. The cigar store owners are charged with permitting Kinard’s conduct. Kinard not located.

Sampson Hanover the renowned pacer will debut at Hollywood Park today as part of a five day Western Harness Racing Association meet from Tuesday to Saturday. The year old four year old son of Volomite is expected to be a heavy favorite in the Santa Monica Pace while skipping the Pomona Pace due to no nomination.

Fire Captain Paul Robler of the county department is moved from Shafter to the Bakersfield headquarters unit. Capt. T. L. Kinkaid returns from Air Force service to replace him in Shafter. Also noted are top trotters Star's Pride and rivals lining up for a Saturday free-for-all race with Star's Pride expected to debut amid strong challengers. Pronto Don arrives from New York but may miss the Saturday program. The first United States Mint opened on Apr 2 1792.
