Post Office Seeks Bid For Mail Transport Contract
The Shafter Post Office will accept bids until October 28 for a contract to transport mail between the Santa Fe depot and the post office. Postmaster Gene Guenther said the service requires three to four trips daily and the contract will go to the lowest qualified bidder.

Parade Route Revealed For Shafter Homecoming
About fifty units are to participate in the Shafter Homecoming parade set for Saturday morning downtown. Parade chair Jim Tucker announced the route from Richland Park on Wall Street to Five Points, Central Avenue, James Street, Sunset Avenue, and back to Five Points. The reviewing stand will be at James and Central avenues. A tentative lineup lists Bakersfield police motorcycle drill team leading the march.

Angie Stringham Named Pioneer Queen of Shafter Homecoming
Mrs. E. B. Stringham, a Shafter figure in town history, is named Pioneer Queen of Shafter Homecoming Days. Four ladies in waiting Opal Fry E V Kattenhorn Tom Wedge Oscar Wiedmann were chosen to assist. The queen will be crowned Friday at the Homecoming game and moved to Shafter with her husband in 1919 after 45 years of marriage.
