Shafter Ag Advisory approves school athletic complex plan
The Shafter High School Ag Advisory Committee and the Shafter Recreation and Parks District accept a proposal to build athletic facilities on 11.8 acres of SHS Ag Farm. The plan includes soccer fields, diamonds, and a parking lot with water lines, fencing, and irrigation tie ins. Annual payments are set at 6000 dollars for five years, with irrigation water costs excluded.

Budget shortfall looms at Richland School Board meeting
At a Richland School Board of Trustees session the Consolidated Program and Economic Impact Aid budgets fell $17 315 short of balance. Superintendent Vera Stone warned of a two week wait for entitlements before a major funding decision. The board also heard grants for in service and computer purchases and adopted an addendum to allow paid in service leave under RTA contract pending funds.
