Services set for Angel Lara in Buttonwillow
Funeral services for Angel Lara 90 of Buttonwillow are planned. A rosary was recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Agee Funeral Chapel and a Requiem will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Church. Mr. Lara died October 13 after a long illness. He was born in Mexico and came to Kern County in 1917, working many years for Buena Vista Water Co. Survived by widow Estefana, two sons Paul and Jess, two daughters Connie Martinez and Esther Vierra, one sister Maria Santos, 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers: Randy Lara, George Martinez, Jesse Lara, Jerry Martinez, David Lara, Greg Vierra.

PTA Barbecue and Carnival a large community success
Richland PTA president Judy Cotton announced last Thursday night’s Barbecue and Carnival drew about 1 000 attendees with 100 more served than prior years. Proceeds fund student assistance and projects. PTA supported patio covers, cassette players, and outdoor reading tables, with many local groups running booths and a German band entertaining.
