Shafter Posts State-Record Public Recreation Attendance
The Shafter community set a state record for its size with over 90 000 participants in the summer public recreation program director Roy Farrell reports. Growth since 1946 reflects population rise and strong leadership plus top facilities including a premier aquatic center built in 1948. Swimming and softball drew large crowds as winter programming expands beyond school months.
