A new ammonium phosphate plant at Brea is now supplying growers with a soluble phosphate product. Brea Chemicals, Inc., a Union Oil subsidiary, also produces Aqua Ammonia, a high nitrogen solution. The facilities are located at Brea, thirty miles east of Los Angeles, making the company the region’s major supplier of these nutrients.

Night school classes seek sufficient enrollment
Shafter High School attendance officer Mrs. Kathleen Warren says night school enrollment is short of the required minimum. Welding has 10 students, woodshop seven, typing four, with 15 as the minimum to start a class. Registration began Monday September 27 and continues. except for materials, courses have no cost.

Macco Corp. completed a new plant supplying fall fertilizer in California. Plants at Brawley and Fresno expected to start early next year. Total cost around 500000 dollars. The 8 24 0 solution blends soluble phosphoric acid with Aqua Ammonia producing 8 percent nitrogen and 24 percent phosphate, enabling soil spraying and irrigation applications.
