Night School Courses Are Announced At Shafter High
Registration for adult night classes at Shafter high school will be taken 7 to 9 p m on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the high school office. Principal Eugene Ford announced eight courses start October 16 and run eight weeks with a 20 person minimum per course.

Potato growers in Shafter and Kern County urge a county plant pathologist to inspect seed potatoes for ring rot. A central office would support the inspector who would evaluate suspect stock and report to seed buyers. Agricultural Commissioner Lewis Burtch noted all seed must be inspected under state law before planting. Superior Oil began work on a new location Smith No 1 in Section 34 28 25 of the Shafter oil field with a derrick up and equipment moving in. The site lies near Union’s 41 34 and 83 34 and may lie near the western border as drilling expands toward the northwest trend of the field. Work Started On New Shafter Adventist Church
Construction begins on a new Shafter Seventh Day Adventist church at the site of the old German Adventist church on Lerdo road. The building will include a 60 by 70 foot auditorium and a 30 by 60 foot basement. The project unites former English and German congregations, who plan to raze the old Lerdo church for the new structure.
